In Defense of Memory
More than a band, In Defense Of Memory is a support network that connects artists and advocates for positive social change and equitable education across regions of North American and the world. In Defense Of Memory produces an interculturally-situated platform for Experimental and Creative Improvised Music performance and research. In this performance In Defense of Memory will be investigating the deep history of New Mexico by creating music and developing railroads of resistance and acknowledgement in the Oldest Church in the US, the San Miguel Chapel. This space embodies the history of New Mexico. In Defense of Memory features: Laura Ortman (White Mountain Apache) – amplified violin, Marshall Trammell (African American) – percussion, Carlos Santistevan (Mestizo) – amplified upright bass.
