Al Faaet’s ELEMENTAL ORCHESTRA
th3 e1emental orke5tra
Formed in 2005 as an evolving collective of musicians, poets, performance artists, and other creative souls, th3 e1emental orke5tra (also known as TEO 315) has varied in size from two to fifteen members and has always included some of the finest improvisers in New Mexico. In its current incarnation, the band consists of a tight, well-rehearsed quintet with Shawn Woodyard on saxophones, flute, and hand drums; Mark Weaver on tuba and didgeridoos; Matt Norman on keyboards; Al Faaet on drums and percussion; and the group’s founder, Mike Balistreri, on double bass and assorted little things. The ensemble’s music can range from barely audible to thunderous, trance-like to cacophonous, or rhythmic to non sequitur. Regardless of the flow, the musical conversations always represent the intimate sharing of the most personal offerings from the hearts, souls, and minds of the musicians.
Alchemical Burn
A mainstay in the Albuquerque scene playing is such diverse acts as Unnatural Element, Dirty Birds, Diverje and more. Alchemical Burn is the solo project incorporating synths, beats, and magical juju.
We Drew Lightning
Michael Smith and Roland Ostheim have been creating music together since 2002 starting with the band Derail. After some changes in lineup, the band pursued its lush sound and started recording “Swimming With Orange” in 2006-07 on High Mayhem Records. Throughout the recording session there was a need to change identities to progress into a new existence. During one of the recordings sessions the studio was struck with lightning during a take on one of the bands integral songs, and We Drew Lightning was born.
Recently, with the addition of the amazing Aaron Jenks on keyboards, We Drew Lightning is expanding its sound to a new level. Loud, Sensual, Engaging are all words that could describe their sound. We Drew Lightning is a trio of Ruthless Sweethearts that attack with a wall of sound, but bring you back down to earth only to propel you again to another planet. – See more at: http://wedrewlightning.com/band_bio/#sthash.fKs7whG9.dpuf
Disasterman
Having reached the twenty-year mark, Disasterman has found a new maturity: gone is the tendency to apologize for accociating groove with volume, safety with spaciousness, comfort with falling: why make matters easy for listeners when life doesn’t make matters easy for breathers and non-breathers alike: Chopin adored the dark as a child/cursed its long silences winter in, winter out: at this elevation, as with death, hearing is the last sense to go: touch them there and watch what happens.
