MASTERCLASS (15 PARTICIPANTS ONLY): $15.00
Nini Julia Bang + POINT REYES: Voice and Composition
For: Actors, Singers, Musicians, anyone who’s interested.
We will begin work with polyphonic Corsican songs as a tool to find an open and natural common sound. We will extract elements of Scandinavian and Georgian rhythmical patterns that will lead us to a deeper musical intuition. From there we can start to improvise within the structure of the songs and explore our individual voices.
Then, we will move towards composition. Improvised vocal fragments will be repeated and fixed to create short musical scores. Instrumentalists, vocalists, and actors will collaborate in small groups to create short pieces (based on the fragments improvised while singing Corsican polyphony) that will be performed for the workshop participants and leaders.
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in the voice, in composition, or in interdisciplinary collaboration and who wants to gain new tools for creative expression. It will be intensive, exciting, and fun!
be prepared to sing and work on your feet. Instrumentalists should bring their instruments.
Time: 90 minutes.
